Your hips decide where the load goes. Sloped wall: hips in. Steep wall: hips out, and use your legs to push, not your arms to pull. Roofs: hips behind you, feet doing the holding.
The silent foot swap is the most-talked-about and least-practiced skill in climbing. Practice it on a vertical wall on big feet: place one foot, weight it, slip the other in next to it without disturbing the first, transfer weight. Make no noise.
